Hifz Companion · Effective 1 November 2026
Summary
Hifz Companion is an offline Quran memorization application. It does not require an account or network connection and does not request access to location, camera or contacts. It asks for the microphone only if you choose to record your own recitation (see below). Publisher: Vecture.
Information kept on your device
The app stores the selected surah and your ayah-by-ayah self-assessment ratings, the locally computed revision intervals, due dates and review counts, and optional preferences such as study batch size and Arabic text size. This information is saved to the Android app's private storage on your device. The app does not send it to Vecture or to third parties. The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs or embedded remote content. The app does not request the Android INTERNET permission.
Your own recordings (optional)
If you tap “Record yourself”, Android asks for microphone permission. The app records only while you are recording, saves the audio as a file in the app's private storage on your device, and labels it with the surah, ayat and date so you can compare your recitation over time. Recordings are never uploaded or synced, and are not included in the progress export. You can share a single recording yourself through Android's share sheet (for example with your teacher); the app you share it to handles it under its own privacy policy. Delete recordings in “My recordings”, or all of them by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app. You can withdraw microphone permission at any time in Android settings.
Recitation checking (optional)
If you turn on “Listen and check my recitation”, the app analyses your recording on your device with a speech-recognition model included in the app, to mark words that may be missing or unclear. The analysis runs entirely on the phone: audio and results are never sent to Vecture or anyone else. A recording made with “Recite to me” is kept only in temporary storage for the check and is overwritten by the next one.
Manual export and restore
If you intentionally choose Export progress, the app writes your self-assessment history and selected surah into a JSON file at the location you select in Android's system document picker. Choosing a cloud provider in that picker may upload the file under that provider's privacy policy; this is entirely your choice. Restore progress reads the file you select, validates it and requests confirmation before replacing local progress. Quran text is not included in the export.
Storage and deletion
The app has Android backup disabled and excludes its preferences from cloud backup and device transfer where Android supports those rules. Your records remain until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it, subject to your device's operating-system behavior. No user profile or cloud copy is maintained by the publisher.
External links
The optional Tanzil source link opens in your device's browser. If you follow it, the external website and browser have their own privacy practices; that traffic is not generated by Hifz Companion itself.
Children and families
The app has no ads, social features, account creation, or collection of children's personal information by the publisher. Parents or guardians can review the in-app practice content.
Security
Locally stored progress benefits from Android's application sandbox. Protect your device with a screen lock; the app does not encrypt or sync the data separately.
Policy changes and contact
Any material change to the app's data-handling behavior will be reflected in a revised privacy policy on this page and the app release. For questions, contact info@vecture.be.
